eastern Suppliers, the parent of markdown chain Sway's Stores and open air retailer Eastern Mountain Sports, has petitioned for chapter 11, as indicated by Fortune Magazine. 

Eastern Suppliers petitioned for insolvency security in Delaware Sunday. 

Eastern Suppliers is claimed by private value firm Versa Capital Administration, which gained Bounce's and Eastern Mountain Sports from Vestis Retail Bunch, which petitioned for chapter 11 a year ago, the magazine revealed. 

Established in Wellesley in 1967 by climbers Alan McDonough and Roger Furst, EMS has 10 Massachusetts stores, and areas all through New Britain. 

Bounce's has 11 Massachusetts areas, and in addition stores in New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The chain was established by Weave Lapidus as Sway's Surplus in Middletown, Connecticut in 1954.
